Horse and Hound School was founded by Pennie Clayton. Pennie has helped many people train both their horses and their dogs.
Horse School's primary function is to provide help for people who want to train their horses in a classical and systematic way without aversives or punishments. Only positive training methods are used and these are not only very sucessful, but provide both horse and rider with cofidence and added abilities, whether they want to compete, or just enjoy training and working their horses correctly. All abilities and levels of horse and rider welcome.
Hound School is founded on positive, kind methods of training dogs. Dogs learn very quickly but often things are taught in specific places and dogs find it hard to "generalise". Hound School does a lot of outside work with dogs, and this helps owners to train their dogs and to get the responses they are looking for in varying types of environments, rather than only in a hall.
Pennie teaches dogs by using games and activities and not just through standard obedience exercises, this helps because learning then becomes fun for the dog, it also helps dog's to understand owners requests.
Hound School can provide 1-1 training, home visits, behaviour consultations, social walks and classes and puppy visits and training. Also starting in 2010 there will be a series of different workshops and courses which will look at different topics of training, starting with Indoor Activity Work for your Dog.
Pennie is also a trained and qualified Bowen Technique therapist for humans, horses and dogs. Bowen is a light non invasive hands on therapy which can help with many different health problems varying from lack of mobility, pain and stiffness in humans, to anxiety and behaviour problems in dogs.Equine Bowen therapy benefits the horse in the same ways and can help develop increased length of stride and increase performance.
