School Footprints

The School Footprints Project aims to help schools cut their carbon footprint by helping pupils and parents reduce theirs. School Footprints is a UK wide project set up by ICO Commercial Services. ICO is an ethical company ran by a team of people passionate about education and the environment. Our aim is to provide ECO shops to all UK schools educational establishments. On signing up to School Footprints Project, the school will receive their very own ECO Shop branded with the School Name. The School will also receive a ‘discount card’ for the ECO Shop. This will automatically discount items on the site for any purchases intended to reduce the schools consumption (as long as the delivery address is that of the school). Funding for your School Under our scheme your school will receive 3.5% of the total value of any and every sale from your ECO Shop. This way of modern fundraising for the school is a great alternative to traditional school fairs. Participation in the scheme could help enhance the reputation of an already active ‘green’ Eco-School, as we expect local and national press coverage as we roll out the scheme. In addition to the school’s branded ECO Shop, there are a number of resources on the site to help teachers, parents and pupils. They are as follows: - Energy saving help and advice - Information and comparison tools for greener home energy - Educational resources that can be used in the curriculum Once your ECO Shop is active we will then be able to supply the school with a flow of data. The school will be able to monitor their impact on the environment with a carbon reduction figure, as well as monitor website trends and sales information. As a School Footprints school, we would appreciate as much feedback from parents, teachers and pupils as possible so that we can amend and adapt our project to fit the needs of the school. We would also hope teachers would be able to use the site for any educational resources that may be of use or relevant. Our aim is to engage pupils, parents and teachers in discussing energy saving methods. We want to increase awareness of the need to reduce carbon footprints, and introduce the site to pupils and parents as a way to reduce their carbon footprint, save money and simultaneously fund their school. Signing up to the scheme is free and takes just a few minutes on the phone to collect details of the school. Your school will then be provided with a unique access link to your ECO Shop branded with the school name (also the school logo on request).
